Immigration and crossing to dive sites
We will start trip from our office at 11:00AM. We check that all divers have correct size equipment. From the office we move to pier, where Officer from Thailand Immigration will stamp our passports. Then we make short crossing to Burma/Kawthoung by boat and go to immigration. From immigration, we will get visa to Burma's Mergui Archipelago.
After immigration we will head straight to our dive sites. We will pass by some average dive spots, because we want to focus only on the best ones. During crossing is good time to setup equipment, eat good dinner and relax.
Tower Rock (Caven Point)
Tower Rock area is also known by name Cavern Point, Dragon Island (Steward Island), Spanish Garden and Ba Wei. These are actually 4 different dive sites quite a close to each other.
So, there is many options where to dive and we can choose what fits best to current date.
We have an opportunity to see Nurse Shark, Eagle Ray, Spanish Dancer, Ghost Pipefish, Sting Rays and smaller Nudibranches and Sea Horses
Shark Cave dive site is made up of 3 small islands. Like name suggests, Shark Cave has 20m long cave/tunnel. Grey reef sharks can sometimes be met cruising through the tunnel. Tunnel is covered in beautiful marigold cup corals, and the floors with yellow Stylotella Aurantium sponges. Shark Cave is also known for its resident docile nurse sharks. Here you can see black corals, orange cup corals, green tubestrea corals, and white Anthothelidae sea fans.
Dive site is also known as the Three Islets. Other dive sites where we normally dive are Square Rock and Submarine. We will make total 4 dives here, including night dive at Square Rock.
Twin Islands dive site has two islands, North and South laying 10 miles from each other. We normally make 4 dives to Northern Island: Two in North Twin Pinnacle, one North Twin Reef and one North Twin Bay (night dive).
This dive site has cleaning station, where is an opportunity to see Manta rays. Bat fish, snapper, yellow tail barracudas, schools of goat fish, big eye trevally, tuna and eagle rays are common. Visibility is usually excellent.
Seafan Forrest and Western Rocky
Seafan forest is submerged limestone pinacle rising from 50 to 8 meters, covered on one side by a forest of huge seafans and purple soft coral. Leopard sharks are common in sandy bottom and there is good opportunity to see Whales shark also.
Western Rocky has tunnel at 20m depth. Everything inside the cave is big, most notably gigantic lobster and nurse sharks. East side of the island is the entrance to tunnel that runs right through the center of the island and exits on the northern side.
East of the main island are small pinnacles. Depending on currents and visibility, we have an option to dive these also. Cuttlefish are common here as are big reef squid. Jacks, Mackerels and Barracudas are possible to find from blue waters.
At Volcano, we will make two dives: one wall dive and look some small things and seahorses. The other we will dive through to tunnel into volcano island inner part.
After dives we will head to Kawthoug to make immigration and we have an opportunity to buy some tax-free things. Then we go back to Thailand and get new visa stamp.
